how technology effects human life

There is no doubt that technology positively affects human life. Where computers were once operated by giving commands or extensive programming, AI has made them autonomous.

If we look at the growing trend of AI, it feels like technology has hijacked people’s minds. In other words, some argue that AI may be reducing our reliance on certain mental skills. For example, some people rely on calculators to work out simple arithmetic. This can lead to them not being able to use basic computational capabilities and skills because of the reliance on the calculator.

Where the positive effects of technology have paved the way for society’s progress, it has also created problems. Let’s discuss some of the impacts of technology on human life, whether physical, mental, or social.

 PHYSICAL HEALTH:

People face many Physical Health problems, the most common of which are:

Obesity: Many studies have proven that people who continuously work in front of a computer are most likely to suffer from obesity.

Weak Eyesight: If you look around, many people wear glasses. The biggest reason for this is the excessive use of technology, which is detrimental to the eyes. In the future, every other person will be affected if timely measures are not taken.

Back Pain: This is a critical issue every second person faces today. Sitting continuously in front of a computer or laptop in the same posture causes back pain and muscle weakness.

 MENTAL ISSUES:

Technology has a profound impact on human thinking, as can be inferred from various news reports where children have tried to harm other children, and many youngsters have become addicted to gaming, leading to impaired mental capabilities. While AI has provided solutions to many problems, it has also created many issues.

Thinking Ability: School, College, and University students are now trying to get help from AI, completing all their assignments with one command without using their mental abilities. AI reduces their cognitive level and prevents them from gaining expertise in anything because they rely on machines for all their work, and their thinking ability is also outsourced to machines.

Aggressive Behaviour: People’s behaviour has changed significantly. While they are moving towards advancement, when they deal with matters in the outside world or the real world, they tend to become aggressive because they want solutions to every problem in seconds. Their mental level only accepts the real things as they have learned from machines.

SOCIAL ISSUES:

Where AI has given a new direction to physical and mental problems, it has also given rise to many evils in society or reshaped existing ones, causing significant disruption on a large scale.

Deep fake: Recently, deep fake has caused an uproar in the world because people have used it for personal gain, taking many undue advantages and destroying many lives. Social organizations have raised their voices against it, but no effective measures have yet been taken to curb deep fake’s negative impacts.

Data Security: There was a time when people used to protect their lives, but as the world stepped onto the path of progress, everything changed its form. Now, people value their mobile and laptop data more than their lives, and they take all necessary measures to secure their data. However, due to AI, people have become very disheartened, fearing their data might become insecure.

SOLUTION:

AI has made many things more accessible for people but it has it’s disadvantages on human life. The issues we have discussed also have solutions and if these steps are taken, people can avoid the problems caused by AI.

Use only as a necessity: Use it as minimally as possible and do not exceed your needs.

Stay connected to real things: Stay connected to natural things and avoid staying in closed rooms for extended periods.

Exercise: Try to dedicate at least 20 minutes every day for any physical exercise; gradually increase this time.

Turn off mobile phones: Mobile phones are a necessity for everyone. Set a specific time when you turn off your mobile for one or two hours. As you gradually increase this time, you will feel a significant positive change within yourself.

Family time: Spend as much time as possible with friends and family; when you are at a gathering, try to minimize using your mobile phone.
