Memory Loss Causes & Treatment:

A Modern Crisis Nowadays, everyone is facing the issue of “memory loss”. If we go through the researches conducted on mental health, we will be astonished at the data throwing light on the fact that the majority of teenagers are victims of memory loss and hijacked by the use of technology.

Our Distracted Lifestyles: Culprit Behind Memory Loss

Why is it happening so? So let’s have a thoughtful observation on “our lifestyle”. We wake up in the morning, and the first thing we do is to check our phones, reading all messages that we couldn’t read last night or even check our all social media accounts. We can’t even estimate how many things we watch daily, for our memory does not retain everything we scroll on social media. Similarly, we go to school, college, university, office, or any workplace, but all in the end of the day, we remember are only accidents that are shocking for our minds. Such accidents are imprinted in our minds for years, even though some people seek refuge in medicine and apply different techniques to forget those incidents.

Brain’s Selective Memory

Focusing on the Shocking Actually, our brain makes decisions based on our visual and sensory senses, storing that information as well. As we see and ignore different types of things on social media platforms, our brain tends to act likewise and fails to store data in our memory. While on the contrary, any bad incident that shocks the mind is also our focus point; we take a lot of time to think about that particular incident, so the mind stores what is concentrated and avoids what we ignored.

Diminishing Attention Spans

A Digital Age Dilemma You must have noticed that the duration of videos is being compressed from hours to seconds every coming day. The reason behind is that due to the use of social media platforms where we scroll hundreds and thousands of reels, so our brain’s ability to watch and concentrate on long-duration items is cut short. Today, man cannot concentrate on things whose duration is longer, as research says our concentration duration has turned to three seconds in the age of digitalization, shorter than our ancestors.

Conclusion:

Training the Mind for Better Memory The mind also works as much as the person makes his body accustomed to and has the same ability to think. Therefore, it is important that we have to accustom our minds to focus on one thing, so that the ability to store things in the brain for a long time can be created.
